Our highly experienced teams hold the correct qualifications with every operative holding Streetworks Qualification Registration, experienced in the New Road & Streetworks Act (NRSWA) and carry out the processes in place to avoid damage of other utilities in ground, by carrying out cable avoidance techniques by using Cable avoidance tool (CAT & Genny), IJL believe in doing things correctly by obtaining the correct safe dig prints of other utilities and carried out to HSG47 as standard.
All our CAT & Gennys provide GPS tracking and timestamping, so we know exactly where it has been used and the data export also tells us if it has been used correctly.
We have successfully completed numerous telecommunication builds, excavating to the correct depths and reinstating correctly to SROH, all while maintain a focus on ensuring the safety of operatives and the public.

IJL can provide conventional digging or trenching solutions, and we have our own serviced plant.

Although we have proven experience within telecommunications sector, we also have capability in other utilities like power and water. As a business we continue to expand in these areas and also support our renewables division with groundworks and infrastructure enablement.
Having worked for multiple network providers building networks the civils aspect goes hand in hand with the cabling requirements. Our civils operatives know how to build and overcome obstructions and diversions to get the job done.
Our civils experience includes the following:
- Duct laying 96mm / 110mm
- Direct buried tubing within footways and carriageways
- Construction of Chambers
- Blockage clearance
- Access streetside cabinet construction
As part of our continued expansion and development, IJL now also have experience in the following:
- Groundworks for commercial and residential solar installation
- Installation of EV charging points
- Ducting for electrical cabling

As well as our front-end civils
IJL have a very experienced back office where our coordinators pre plan works with local authorities, raise safe dig prints, coordinate with traffic management and build each of our jobs on our documented system, allowing works to be scheduled and kept on track and avoid over running on permits.
We continue to work to our ‘right first time’ policy and to ensure we maintain a high standard of works we carry out regular onsite H&S audits, pre site visits and letter drops. Our In progress checks are carried out on all works which include dig depth sand all our teams provide photographic evidence which is date time stamped and geolocation tagged.
This allows us to keep a record of works and clear evidence to anyone wishing to see it. It also means that at any time during a job, our back office can also audit works, see site set ups, progress, correct standards are being met, sites are left safe and jobs are closed down adhering to all procedures.
